The energy of love will always connect people and their pets. It is a bond that cannot be broken. Coates writes in Communicating with Animals:
“Love is a very powerful energy, creating its own communication network. When we love an animal, a promise is made to us and it is this: My soul will always be linked to your soul. I am with you always.”
This was especially evident as I worked on a memorial portrait of Parmesan for Mary, who is a dear friend of Liz's. Liz asked me to paint two portraits of "Parmie" and sent me several photo selections to choose from. She asked me to use a rainbow as the background in one of the paintings.

When I submitted the draft, Liz reached out to a close friend for her opinion. The friend thought Parmesan looked sad and was upset that I didn’t choose a photo showing that he was blind in one eye. But I knew Parmesan wanted me to use this picture for a reason. I just didn’t know why at the time.

After much thought, Liz said she trusted my choice and was led by Spirit to go forward with this painting. She felt Parmie had channeled me and that it would mean exactly what it was supposed to mean to Mary. Parmie has a strong spirit and I felt it when I was painting. I felt him looking down at Mary and letting her know that not only was he okay, but he was watching over her.
When Mary received the painting, she said that she loved that Parmie was looking down at her because he climbed up on her headboard every night and looked down at her just like that before he settled in with her for the night.
For the second portrait, Liz fell in love with a picture of a cat curled up on a mandala rug and sent me one of Mary’s favorite pictures of Parmie curled up on her bed. I was able to digitally design a mandala rug based on the colors and patterns in the bedspread.

Parmie really influenced me through the entire painting process and continued to reach out to me after I had finished the painting. As I was driving to work one morning, I was thinking about Parmie when I looked to the West and saw this beautiful sky. I was awestruck and knew immediately that Parmie wanted me to share that vision with Mary and I couldn't get to work fast enough to stop and take the picture.
This has been Parmie's theme from the beginning. He is in a wondrous, beautiful place, in all his glory, watching down over Mary. Through Spirit, he not only produced this beautiful vision in the sky, but he also touched my soul so deeply so that I knew what to do with the sign. I sent this photo to Mary and told her that Parmie was sending her a message.

Although I didn’t know it at the time, Mary was leaving for New York where she would become engaged. I imagined this was Parmie’s way of showing his love and excitement in a very grand way! I asked her if she was able to feel Parmie because I felt he was also sending signs directly to her.
Later that day, Mary wrote to me,
“I knew Parmie was with me as I walked through a field of flowers. The sun was shining, and the wind was in my hair and I was at so much peace that I knew he was in the flowers and wind. He loved to chew on my flowers so I knew he would love it there. I want to visit it more so I can see him again.”

I was seeing Parmie's hand in everything. I answered,
"I really love the sun reflection beaming from the building. That is a whiskered smile from Parmie! And the photo with the solf pale pink flowers matches the color scheme in one of the paintings."
On September 3, 2019, Mary wrote,
“Good morning! I got home last night and my package is here! I wasn’t quite ready to open it as feelings of sadness kicked back in when I got home but I saw the most beautiful sunset driving home last night with rays of sunbeams poking through. The sky was a rainbow color and I knew Parmie was doing that ❤️”
It was yet another sign from Parmie, and I wrote back,
“Yes, if you saw rainbow colors in the sky, that was definitely Parmie sending you his love. ❤️🙂”
Mary opened her paintings later that evening and wrote,
“OMG wow your paintings touch my soul with their beauty. I can’t believe the photo has the rainbow in the background and I mentioned I saw the rainbow sky last night. Wow what a sign. Love your work and your inspiration and love that shines through ❤️”
I replied,
“You can imagine how I felt when you mentioned the rainbow-colored sky last night. Just one more message from Parmie. I have grown to love his spirit very much. ❤️”
